Use of Rare Earth Elements in the New Ford C-MAX


What do you think of when you hear the words ‘electric vehicles’ (EVs), besides the cleaner, greener world and the reduction in gas guzzling internal combustion (IC) engine vehicles? You might be thinking, in terms of commodities, of the additional copper required, or maybe you are thinking of the ‘battery metals’, such as cobalt, lithium or nickel.

But did you know that EVs also require many different rare earth elements (REE’s) in their manufacture?
